Pistols don't make me to invest points in any melee or ranged skill, all free points can help to build a summoner or a shield engineer, the mix?īeing a summoner build you can put points into only one stat: Vitality.Īnyway it's not meant to be a regular summoner build because there's Shield Bash, pistol and physical damage.Ī deciding factor is Spider Mines, this is one of the main skill and it consumes a lot of mana, Shields can have a proper build, but are usually used regardless point investment because of the survival task. These are important things, because can trigger effects fast and because can be equipped with shileds. They are ranged true, but can be 1-handed and are fast. Picking a weapon means 15-30 points already placed but what about pistols? Usually don't take in consideration bows, crossbows or shotguns. Keep in mind it's a great skill for a Dual Wielding build.įor ranged weapons it's simple because only cannons benefit from ranged skills. Supercharge can also help 2-handed weapons but I want to focus the attention about this skill in another sitution. Respectively Heavy Lifting and Supercharge. The engineer has skills that help any melee 2-handed weapon beside the staff ( apparently not true, but it's a bug ), and any melee 1-handed weapon. To avoid this, the thing is simple, don't use that weapon. However, once you get all of your posse together, you do so much damage for no real good reason.I'm on the idea that if you use a weapon, it's a waste not to put points in its related skills. REALLY slow to level before you get spider mines at 14 just put points into a skill (Flame Hammer/Seismic Slam or whatever) and just keep respecing the points out of those skills and back in every 3 levels until you get spider mines. Minions scale with levels and +minion damage on gear, so you build every aspect of tankiness and let the pets do the dirty work. Summon stuff, spam mines, let them kill everything. I had level 9 gloves that had +25% pet and minion damage and only replaced them when I found level 40 something gloves with +25% pet and minion damage and mana regen as well. The reason you don't want to lose out on minion damage? It applies to everything you summon, including your spider mines (!). You will have gigantic mana issues with this build, so try for some mana regen through gear and gems (but don't forgo +pet and minion damage if you have a large amount of it) and prioritize levels in healbot for his mana regen above 5. Spare points can go into Charge Domination and Bulwark, or anything you feel like playing around with. Take a point in Onslaught or Storm Burst for a dash skill (I prefer Onslaught). Eventually you will want Dynamo Field for charge generation, but it isn't needed early (I have it at 1 point and my engineer is starting ng+). For skills: Healbot, Spider Mines, Gunbot, Sledgebot are your main construction skills and Forcefield/Immobilization Copter are your main Aegis skills. If you pay attention to the blacksmith, you can find some gear with +25% pet and minion damage. All armor you buy should have +x% pet and minion damage. The weapon doesn't matter, just pick up a weapon with some sort of minion something boost when you can. All stats into vitality, with a small amount in dex for dodge. I did hardcore elite with this type of engineer.
